    The proof :

Using free business network keyword and searching in Google.co.uk, I found my web site second to academy.com. But in Google.com my web site is listed in the eleventh position

erm.. that is nothing unusual.. Google has a zillion data centers for various geographic locations around the world..... rankings always vary from location to location....

.com - is generally the worldwide search and the .co.uk will have more localized results

All of the major search engines now give a great deal of weight to geo-location, even when the user does not select a country-specific search. So it is important for webmasters to understand how geo-location works. The major search engines use two criteria to determine the geo-location of a site: (1) the presence of a Country Code Top Level Domain Name (ie. 'cc TLD' as in 'somesite.co.uk'), or (2) for generic TLDs like .com, .net, .org, .biz, or .info they rely on the physical location of the server that hosts the site based on its IP address.
