Could Google out past Microsoft in both market cap. and revenues. Google stuck are currently at $316.46 and has a market cap. of over $88 billion. While is larger than Yahoo, eBay and many other still a fraction of Microsoft over $275 billions even with its stock below $26. I remember when Microsoft stocks where over $59 and the company has almost a Trillion dollar in market cap. With Google diversification attacking more and more of Microsoft market. Do you guys believe it will come the day when Google out past Microsoft. Or by contrast it will lost momentum and decline in market cap. and even revenues. In my opinion while I am a G supporter I think that time where G out past Microsoft will never come. I sincerely believe G may be another bubble and at some point it will blow and decrease in price. I think G cap of $80 billions its way to overpriced. Sincerely I think G real market cap. should be in some point from $15 to $30 billions. What do you believe? I will like to know what you think of these two titans. :)

Do you really belive this is a posibility. Because G is the dominant forse in Internet Advertisment. But Microsoft is lot more diversificate.

    Not possible in near future..
MS is a big organisation in itself and they have their own advatages like almost 80% share in OS and Browser market.
Hard to beat them. but yes Google is unbeatable in SE area. they are the one

I also donot think it is possible for G to take over MSN.In many areas G is coming up a winner but MSN is strong to survive and they are alot popular in many of the fields in which G is trying to enter.

I don't think so that G ever take on Msn beacuse msn controls windows and they will never allow G to get over him.

I don't think Google would even ever want to take over MS. Google is slowly busy diversifying into other products aside from their Search engine. (Take the recent Gmail, IM etc as an example).

What I do see Google becoming is a "one stop shop" providing in all your needs. In the future you'll use GMail, GInstant Messaging, GTv, GWallet etc. They'll become the place you go to, with pages customized to all your needs/interests etc...

It will be interesting to see what they have up their sleeves. I like Google as a compony so it can only mean good things.

Not really sure if Google will stick at $320+ when you look closely, they are really trying hard to deversify like free Wi-Fi in SFO, still trying to develop a platform that 3rd party can make money from. read the article on Yahoo

MS develop products sold to end users (us), to systems (servers), to dev companies and internet services like Google.

Google may purchase Yahoo or Firefox why not an ISP like Comcast or an equipment maker. But I not sur if it will stick in the $xxx range, some will start to take on their profit.

I too dont think in the near future it would be possible. But who knows the future. I think the next 10yrs would be crucial. Microsoft's way of doing business is not ethical. History shows that. And google has done wonders in the last 7yrs. What Microsoft did in 30yrs, google has already done some 40-50% of that in just a matter of 7 yrs.

I would bet on Google, simple cos its doing things right and growing ethically... Every year they surprise us with awesome stuffs. google world, google maps(advanced), google wifi(the lastest stuff and more over its free) and just a few days back - google and nasa getting together.

I strongly feel Microsoft should get their acts together and start concentrating on doing business eithically rather than getting entangled in to more and more law suites and anti trust cases.

Actually, Google is the dominate force in information, which in the end is what has more value than anything else.

"For all their differences, the two companies have a lot in common. Microsoft looks at Google and sees its own past, full of promise. Google looks at Microsoft and sees the future - a swaggering company that dominates the tech landscape. It's a classic battle between youth and experience or, as Google likes to believe, good and evil. "

I strongly agree with this comment. I read an interview made to Steve Ballmer and he claim that G was the more like Microsoft company they had to compete with.

Well if the rumors in the stock exchange are tru Google is one step closer to Microsft. What rumors? That G will be added to the Standars & Poors 500. One of americas top 500 companies.

I think a lot of Microsofts future depends on what they do with Windows Vista. If they get it right then I do not believe there is any company out there that will be able to challenge them in the O/S and Office products field for many years. However if things start going wrong with Vista I think people will lose faith in MS products very quickly.

As for Google out ranking MS in stock value, Sure this is a very real possiblity due to the fields that Google are looking to work in. However I do not believe that it would be a threat to MS as a company as each companies main income comes from totally different areas.

MSN is a strong company their growth is intimately tied with the overall US economy. While Google as yet, is still a "growth" company. In all likliehood they won't surpass MS any time soon.

If you have asked that question 5 years back then my answer would be NO. But now I think that within next 10 years Google will be a bigger name than Microsoft in not only internet related services, But in OS and Software Solutions also.

I am waiting for the Google OS very eagerly. :)

I know we are all eager to see Microsoft stomped into the ground by our underdog Google BUT what if they turn into another Microsoft monopoly? How fast would we all jump ship and run to the next underdog?
