Could alot of forum posts over night hurt rankins?

I've seen an offer from someone that can make over 100,000 forum posts in 24 hours putting a backlink in for you.

Question is do you think this will get a site penalized by the search engines for getting too many too fast?

My guess would be that they have 100,000 posts and will put your link in their sig. If that is not the case, then I'd not go for it, as it'll likely be spam, and the forums that do not delete the posts will be so spam filled, they will not count all that much for you.

I'm not sure if SE's will discount the link, but you can bet the money you'd pay for such links that the people that see it will most certainly discount it, and discount your site as SPAM and never (ever) visit it, or on the off chance they do, they likely will not buy from you as they recognize it as a spam site.

Generally though, sig links are helpful, if done properly.

But even if you got so many links in short amount of time, i dont think they get indexed at the same time, search engines will take some time to actually index them.

100k new post in a night?
ya right, I'd say 90% would be deleted as spam

In my opinion that is way too many links way too fast. Link building needs to look natural, otherwise you could get penalized.

Oh really? Have you tested it? So I could get your site penalized by building you massive links? Uh huh.

When I had 100+ posts here on DP forums I never had a sig. Then I finally made a sig and I thought all those posts would automatically be updated with my sig, boy was I dissappointed lol. Are there forums that actually do this?

What about the other 10% (10,000 posts). There is no way in hell anyone can post that much in 24 hours, unless its those Yahoo Bots Mod, or whatever that is. But I don't think signatures would be enabled on those guest bot posters powered by yahoo...

Since they come from forum sigs, I dont think google will penalize you, if that was the case people could put their competitors site in the sig and penalize them

Basically what will/should happen is some of the better ones will get through. Something to consider here is that they are probably using automated bots to post links, and in this case every other service that does this (including porn and gambling sites) has probably done the same thing. If the forum / blog doesn't have proper moderation in place this means they will probably have any link authority shot to hell and will not be able to pass it onto you.

You would be better off taking a very active role in some online communities on your topic and really participate in those communities (i.e. add meaningful posts). This will help your online reputation as well as your SEO. Also, if you can add some really good info to your site on a particular topic to link to this will make the process go more smoothly.

No. It's impossible for google to crawl 1,00,000(lots of old posts) pages overnight.

Agree - for 100,000 they must have the posts already done and will just insert link - and google will tke forever to index them, so not like you will get a burst at one time.

I would be more concerned at does he really have the 100,000 posts, seems a huge number...

Default vB does this, though it is up to you to make sure that your signature is enabled (even if you are not using one). DP has been modded, so I am unsure if you can effect the posts before you are allowed a sig (as I didn't bother to check)...

I do now know of any other forum that does it, not that I've looked. I like vB too much, lol ;)
