Could a local Yahoo! Answers type site be successful?

I'm located in Iceland where there are only a little over 300,000 inhabitants. I am thinking about starting some local sites as the internet market here is far from being saturated. I'm thinking whether a Yahoo! Answers type of site might be a good idea, what do you think?

The problem is the low amount of people that would be interested. I mean, if you have 3000 visits a day that means 1% of you nation population! Now exclude the people who can't use the site (newborns, prisioners, poor people, whatever) and you'll be limited in how much to expand. That said, if you think there's a good opportunity because of the lack of competition, go for it? And then post results

The idea sounds good if you can bring people to contribute. You have to make attractions in the site so that, people can contribute. If you are sure that you can make a site that people will love to join, then I guess it is a good idea.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I could pay a few friends to make some dozens of questions & answers to get it started. There are neither many prisoners nor poor people in Iceland and almost every household has a high speed connection ( many even have fiber cable connections ) and those who don't can of course access one at work / school. I know the population is still small, but advertisers pay pretty well I think. Could you recommend me a good clone script for this? I thought Agriya's Anova script might work but I'm not sure.

I'm talking about a local site. There aren't that many, there's one science web like this but it's not exactly the same. People can ask questions and if they're lucky, a professor will post the questions with an answer. There's also one teen forum ( which isn't really good at all ) but I don't think there are many other sites like this.

It's really hard to get users for Q/A forum. My recommendation would be to make it like a social networking thing. Have you heard of 43things.com? That is successful because it has a unique method to it.. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!!
