be the year that personal computers once again dominate the technology news? PC innovation has been in short supply, and the last really big events came in 2001 when Apple released its OS X operating system and Microsoft followed with Windows XP. Next year promises to bring major changes in both software and hardware…. what would you like as a change?
I'd like Mac's to be cheaper. Is it true that they are moving on to intel chips, which could bring the pricd down?
With Windows Vista, I'd like to see better controls over the registry, more built in tools like the multimedia functions that were power toys for XP and built in antivirus and better reporting on and control over the firewall. I'd also like to see built in anti-spyware and some improvements made to Internet Explorer and more functionality given to Outlook Express (although I personally use Outlook). It would also be nice to have more customization choices and control over the themes, file manager settings and a section of the control panel for control freaks with tweaks galore! Am I asking for too much?
Everything I wish for 2006 will more than likely become a reality. I've always disliked Macs because unlike PCs, you can't custom build Macs easily with third party hardware. Probably the only thing I like about Macs are how cool their computers are.
