Costly Hoplink!!!

    Hey, im pretty new to affiliation and i just came out of my first campaign using a product on clickbank. Anyway my ad (made with google adwords) got 78 clicks in a couple of hours but according to my clickbank account not a single sale!. This was strange to me because id spent alot of time on my ad and it pretty much got to the point of the website.
    Anyway i started looking to see what the problem might have been and i went to reproduce the hoplink which i had used to direct my potential buyers. And i was surprised to see that they differed.

    The link that i had just produced simply had my clickbank nickname, the product i was advertising and .clickbank.net in it, where as the first link (the one that i used in my campaign) had all of this but with my password at the end!

    At the time i didnt examine the link so i didnt realise this... i just took clickbanks word that this was the link i needed to direct people.

    My question is would this be a reason why my account is not being credited with purchases?

    Your help would be much appreciated.

    You can verify that you've entered the correct URL by clicking through from your ad creative within your adWords account, then navigating the merchants site to the ClickBank sales page. At the bottom of the page you will see;

    If your affiliate ID appears, then all is well, and you should be credited with any sales.

    To be honest though, 78 clicks isn't that much, and I wouldn't draw any conclusions until you've generated a few hundred. Also, there are many other factors to consider rather than just the quality of your ad;

    • How targeted your keywords are
    • How well the merchant's sales page converts,
    • etc.
    For best results, you should consider creating your own landing page / site, where you can pre-sell the product before prompting them to click through to the merchant to purchase.

    Be patient!
    Sometimes I got a sale after more than 100 clicks, :)
