I'm wondering how much you think it would cost to have a complete blogging platform developed like Blogsmith, what engadget and like blogs use...it's very extensive, but I want something that is independently unique to my system so I don't have to keep upgrading it for security fixes.....
You will never find a program that never needs to be upgraded. As long as there is some form of input going into a program, someone will find a way to exploit it. The reason why programs like Wordpress or Blogsmith keep getting upgraded is not because of bad coding, it's because some punk kid halfway around the world has nothing better to do than exploit some variable in 10,000+ lines of code.
you asked to know how much it would be to get a script you don't have to update a lot and he said that you are not going to find a program like that
whatever, you guys are wasting space in this thread. I want to know how much it would cost to create a unique blogging platform.
I doubt any of us are advanced enough to program something like that, you should ask programmers directly for a quote instead of a general group of people. Unless they themselves are a programmer, any person giving you a response here can be completely off.
4-5 million dollars I beleive. If I remember correctly, Web Blogs Inc, sold it to AOL for that price. There are a few more people who have said software, since it was planned to be released to the public.
well, that was the total amount for a well established script, I ( someone with around 4 years programmin experience ) could create a blogging system inside 6 weeks ( difficult to find time and be a dad, possibly quicker if the programmer has no other commitments at all ), but it would cost big bucks, even at prices like $30 p/h it would cost an arm and a leg ( plus they would need to be crazy to work for that ), plus everyone is right with the teenager in a room theory there is no software that's not a target, even more so with new services / scripts, these teenagers fight quite fiercely for thier place in the "underground" ....... so it's literally a perptual investment, and unless you have considerable programming knowledge yourself you'd need to pay someone to do that too, so eventually, your investment would run into millions.........
