Cost per Lead Benchmark?

    Hi guys,

I want to ask your opinion about this.

I've just tested ClixSense for advertising. I bought 5000 credits for $8.80 and I use the micro ad feature. In micro ads, the viewers must see the ads for at least 3 seconds and 1 view costs 1 credit.

I set the ad delivery rate to “Normal - Slower Delivery.” I tried to run the ads when it was daylight in the US to target US people. I paused the campaign when it was night in the US. The ad campaign was completed in about two days. Besides the paid clicks, I also got some free clicks from guests or members that click on the ads more than once.

    Well, here's the final results:

    Total cost: $8.80
    Visitors: 5087
    Cost per click: $0.0017
    Confirmed subscribers: 7 (I use double opt-in)
    Unconfirmed subscriber: 1
Visitors to leads conversion rate: 0.14%
    Cost per lead: $1.26

I only count confirmed subscribers (I use double opt-in) as leads. I know that the conversion rate is very low and I think it's because ClixSense's traffic is incentivized traffic. They came to my website because they wanted to earn money from clicking on my ads, not because they were interested in my ads.

But what I want to ask specifically here is what about the cost per lead of $1.26. I don't have enough reference to determine whether this is cheap, fair or expensive. So, what is the average CPL in the online business niche? Is there any benchmark to assess the cost per lead in the online business niche?

Also, if you have any experience in advertising with ClixSense, I would appreciate if you can share your results for comparison.

    Thanks,
    Zaki
