Cost of Hosting for Wordpress Blog

whats the common rate for hosting a wordpress blog? lets say monthly...

i recently paid $100 for a year, breaking it down to about $8.33 a month... did i pay too much?

 

I dont think so..were you able to manage the site easily. You pay anywhere between $60 and $100 usually these days but if you can manage it easily and it stays up it is worth it.

Too many hosting providers now just cant keep their servers up..

 

It depends on what your site is.

If you are starting off with a new site, which relies more on plain vanilla content rather than images or videos, you could surely have gone with a cheaper plan.

Besides I doubt the wordpress blog is the only one you are hosting on your account, if you are paying eight bucks a month. ( Assuming your blog doesn't get too many hits a month)

Not that much. It really depends with the bandwidth and diskspace given to you by the host.

 

That is reasonable cost if you are not facing problem with your hosting.

Because hosting charges depends upon security, reliability and easy back up along with bandwidth and space I think

 

Basically with Cpanel you will get Wordpress under fantastico scripts, basically shared hosting starts somewhere with $5-6/mon

 

It also depends on the duration. The longer you pay the cheaper it is. Average is $5-7 per month.

I think you really paid much. Shared hosting plans are available for anywhere betweeen $10 to $15 a year. If its a new blog that you are starting its better to have shared hosting. There are many good hosting solutions available at DP. Search and check them out.

 

I'm using the MAX plan in netfirms, and only cost me $10 for two domains and the hosting for a whole year.

You didn't pay too much. It's overall a decent deal. You can definitely get many hosting deals for less (even for almost free) out there, but it can be a dangerous game. After all, you need to make sure that you wont wake up one day and your webhost is gone, site is down for good or similar.
Don't go for a dirt cheap hosting unless you know and trust the people offering it and they have good recommendations with them.

 

You may want to try HostingPuppy with their buck-a-gig plan if you're looking for cheap hosting. In spite of their low price, they *do* have some positive reviews on WHT.
