Ok I give someone -1 for stealing something and I get this, is this automated or is this some douche bag.

"Cost" of giving red reputation to someone is -1

You red rep someone because you don't agree with their post
You Green rep if you do, who ever doesn't understand these simple rules is stupid.
They act as if giving -1 is painting 666 on someone's head.

Oh ya i've gotten this 3 times.

Nevermind I didn't see shawns post, sorry for the frustration. I just thought it was lame that people go around red repping red reppers. But now that I know it's automated it's cool.

I still don't get why you get a red rep when you give one out.

It's like a fair trade. - You reap what you saw.
It's much better now, no more people going around red rep others like before.

If you want to change someone because of having soemthing stolen or made any other mistake its better to clear it and discuss it instead of red rap. If this it is seriously your intend to red rep then I guess its worth the -1.

This is a god modification as it acts as a dampener on people giving away rep without thinking. I rarely red rep anyhow, and only then when I have exhausted other avenues. Sometimes people are plain nasty to others and deserve it, other times people are spouting crap (dangerously so on occasion to newbies). If they refuse to debate their posts by sticking to their guns (while being out of order), then maybe the only way to warn others is for them to carry a red reputaion mark.

As I said thougfh, I think maybe I have red repped twice since the system came into effect. I like it!

red rep for red rep sounds like a good plan to me since it prevents anyone from just wandering through red reping at random just to be annoying. If the price you pay for sending out repeated red reps is to get an equal number, then you are less likely to just toss them out like candy at a parade.

red rep in General Chat has not effect on your rep, that's why you see grey.

And the guy who rep you got a red for repping you...

    :D :D :D :D

The rep you gave me was grey as well.

Rep in GC area are not counted as green or red (unless the person who repped you in GC had 800 points or something).

BTW one grey was from me, which was originally intended to be green.;) :)

You dont get a red back, if you grey (meaning red) someone in GC area.

Yeah if there was a few ppl just redding ppl to be redding em this kind of system should keep em in check. However, since i'm a newb to all this, where is the cut off point for accumulating so much red?

Actually yes it does, but with a little effect, When people like ministrel, Nintendo, Rob rep you, you get either green or red not grey.
