Thread: xxxxxxxx "Cost" of giving red reputation to someone is -1 Code (markup): As far as I remember, it was just in theory .. now in practice, too ? Not happy to receive a red one while rating someone who have earned it ..
Weird. I really don't remember receiving -1 when adding red one to someone about 6 months ago .. Anyway, if it's been so, let it be but in my opinion this feature should be disabled ( ** Just a suggestion ).
Just be happy that you weren't a member during the change over. I had given lots of deserved negative reps and when the change was implemented all those negatives I gave out suddenly destroyed my own reputation. It wasn't very cool at the time. But Shawn is right that's been there for years and you do get notified before you click submit.
That was hilarious when that was implemented. So many super-green-blob members plunged into multi-blob red.
The "cost" of rep wasn't retroactive... what you guys are thinking of is when the change to how much rep you could give in certain forums was retroactively applied. So people that earned all their rep in the useless forums saw their rep bars plummet.
You sure? There were a load of members who just bombed into deep, deep red. My recollection is retroactively applied cost for red.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't recall doing that. I would think I would remember that since I would have had to write a lot of code to make it retroactive.
It's age, Shawn, it does that to you. One day you can remember what you had for lunch every day in October 20 years ago, and you never forget so much as a line of text in anything you did. Next thing you know you have a sheet of paper in your hand with something you know you wrote and can't remember writing it the month before.
