    Hello Guys,

I have a very specific question and if anybody has any information, I would greatly appreciate it.

I currently have a site with dynamic URLs that are re-written. These URLs rank well in the SERPS.

I am making changes to my site, which includes URLs, but I dont want to lose my SERPs.

Is there a way to redirect old dynamic URLs to New dynamic URLs with out losing your SERPS?

If anybody knows the safest way to do this, please let me know what I can do.

    Thanks,
    Charlee

    redirect 301 /oldurl/ http://newurl/
    in your htacces file

or mod_rewrite in htacces a little more complicated but nicer on the eye :)

you must use 301 redirect for your old urls. if you search google with "301 redirect" words, you can find info about that

Even though 301 redirects are seo friendly and also the way suggested by google, if possible, is it better to try and keep the URLs the same if they are ranking well, even if it requires extra work?

Since..even with 301 redirects and it being the correct way, you never know with search engines, anything can happen.

    what do you guys think..

remember changing any urls will mean that you loose page rank until the next update

you may loose serp positioning, but it should be a temporary drop only

with regards to doing 301 redirects - unless you are confident you know what you are doing i would outsource this task. personal experience has taught me to leave this to people in the know.

either find someone here or put a bid on rentacoder.com or something similar. depending on the number of redirects $100 - $200 would be a typical bid
