Check this out. http://www.onlinemarketingtoday.com/services/text-link-advertising.htm The description of these "Text Link Advertising Packages" looks really similar to the Coop. Is that what this guy is selling? At least it seems like he is using the Coop. Check the "Partners" at bottom of the page. What do you think about this? .
I think he's actually selling links across the sites on which his dmoz import tool has been used. Part of the terms mean you have to put the links in when you use his script, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the ad space he is selling. I'm pretty sure.
According to the TOS , "Do not buy or sell "weight". This does not address selling the links or paying a webmaster to put the links on their site etc.
It could be. I would be just amazed if his script is already being used by 1000 web sites. It is a great script though. .
I'd say it was against the TOS, but Shawn has the last say on that. I mean, if some one were to do that, then they'd still beselling weight, even if he was paying for the coop to be put on those sites,
Hi Guys, Not that it's anyone’s business but my own… but "The Link Management Assistant" application has been downloaded over 5,700 times since released, and yes, I do sell text link advertising on the bottom of the application (nothing to do with the co-op but independent advertisers) hence being able to provide it at no cost to the internet community. It's not a small project to keep running. Best... Duncan Carver
Hello Duncan, Thank you for making it clear. I know it's not anyone’s business what you do with the links from your scrip, (a great script by the way), but if, and only if, someone was using the Coop in such a way, it would become a Coop members issue, thus feasible to be discussed here. Anyways, I think it's good to see the opinion of the members regarding this possibility. Congratulations for such a great success with you script. .
