Hey Everyone, Ok, if I use a website to track how many links I have I noticed it is 40 something. So, I also notice it counts digitalpoint more then once for certain postings. Do these count as one a piece or because they are all under the same digitalpoint truthfully it is 1? Thanks a lot for your help.
It depends on what you are counting them for. Do you just want to know the total number of backlinks you have? -or- Do you want to know the total number of backlinks you have that help increase your position on a search engine results page? See, not all backlinks are created equal. Google especially discounts many backlniks you might have for various reasons, such as links with a 'no follow' attribute, multiple links from the same domain, or links for a 'bad neighborhood'. The only way to know for sure what backlinks google counts towards your PR is to check them in Google Webmaster Central. yeah, there are other tools that will show the backlinks faster, but they won't filter out the ones that Google doesn't count, so they 'myuddy the water' so to speak.
