Corporate advertisers? Any suggestions?

This question is from my friend who runs a serious corporate website. His CEO asked him to find permanent advertising to put on the site (this is an expensive one, no PPC’s, etc.) but he doesn’t want any Adsense or similar things. Site is a highly respected B2B with only relevant visitors, I believe has a PR5, listed on all specialist directories (DMOZ included). So the idea is to get vetted adverts, preferably from a single company with proper contracts, invoicing, etc. Does anyone know about this type of advertising? Any suggestions?

    Thanks mentos,

Actually the guy is looking for corporate advertisers for his site, not to advertise it. But I'll tell him to check the site.

I would recommend putting together a list or doing research on what companies would be interested in buying traffic from the type of visitors your friend's site has. You can you SEMrush and pull a list of sites that share competing keywords or relevant content.
After you find out who the target companies are, either contact their marketing departments or media agencies and pitch them on why they should buy banner advertising on the site. It shouldn't be a hard sale if it is a respected site and it generates relevant visitors.
I have a ton of experience selling flat fee advertising and this should work.

I have heard great things from companies with the Super Pages guarantees, they get both local and online business from their listings. I know that business.com is also an excellent place to be listed!

To generate this kind of advertising, you're probably going to have to recommend getting on the phone and pitching your offering to relevant organizations. If you can identify closely relevant organizations, and you can demonstrate an obvious return on their spend and your site is up to scratch, you'll find it's quite easy to get to 'yes'. :)
