Hi All, I was hoping you can comment on http://www.devbistro.com. I know the site is kind of bland at the moment and I am working on spicing it up a bit. Mainly, I am looking for advice on what content to add to my job details as well as other pages. Thanks a lot James
Pretty clean website. Take a look at this page in FF: http://devbistro.com/developers/all/ Your Google ads float right on top of the search results. The results table (same page) is a few pixels over the right edge - doesn't look nice and activates the horizontal scroll bar). J.D.
J.D. Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your response. I am aware of the problem and am trying to tackle it. This happens becuase of the amount of data I am displaying on each table row and if your resolution is on the lower side. So i am on it. Best, James
I don't think it's the amount of data - according to the CSS spec, tables should be shortened to fit the space between the floats (ads in your case) and the opposite edge of the containing element. I suspect there's a display property set somewhere that messes things up. J.D.
I like it, nice clean design.. Not sure if adding some more color to it would take away from what you were going for, but I do like it..
Hi, Nice and clean website, maybe you can add some (Web Development or Information Technology theme) picture to welcome section. Content is tiny boring. Maybe add light gray background to Featured jobs tab... Jan
Great clean design. . .however it seems like it is missing something. All the text leaves me wondering where I should focus my eyes. Maybe a small graphic or possible header icons would help. . . Otherwise it looks good!
I really like it, think the graphic design is great - I'm big on graphical minimalism, so the site floats my boat Only thing I'd suggest is maybe doing something more with the profile/resume thing, maybe make it a bit more prominent by putting a link to the "post your resume" section on the right hand nav pane. In fact, the navigation could cope with at least 2x as many links as it currently has I think; site navigation is slightly limited by it at the moment. Don't hold back, people like to be able to easily navigate to any page with 1-click. Edit: Ouch http://devbistro.com/jobs/keywords/PHP MySQL/telecommute gives internal server error - pesky null pointer exception! Damn, reminds me of my JSP coding days... ugh. So yeah, don't forget to try {} catch {} anywhere an exception might be thrown and provide a nice user-friendly error message. Especially on a site targetting web developers...
well, guys, thanks a lot to all who've given me feedback on devbistro. i made some changes recently (changed the nav area primarily). if you have a moment, i'd appreciate your feedback on the new overall design. again the url is http://www.devbistro.com thanks a bunch, james
thanks. i copied it. *please* edit your post to remove the attachment and the vulnerability mention. (i would not be asking for this if you PM'ed me instead of posting here )
