Hey guys, I m planning on buying a laptop 1. I m getting 2 laptops for the same price approx. One is Core2 duo 1.86ghz(dell) and the other is dual core 2.1ghz(sony vaio) Core2duo is latest technology then why is ghz lesser? I want to know what difference does it make between the 2 processors and which is better? 2. And another thing, why some brands charge higher though they have same procesors and os(except mac i know they use their own components and os hence better)What effect does brand value have other than service? And 3, which do you like among the above 2 links? Please reply, I m very excited about my 1st laptop!!
Please don't mind but dont get vista on the laptop. I use my cousins laptop daily it has core2duo 2.something ghz a dedicated graphic card and still it sucks. So i suggest windows7. core2duo is new technology. Go for Dell
You should always go with DELL. That means you need to buy the Core2duo processor. And you will not face even a single problem in it. - Mr.President -
ok. and what about the dual core processor, its clock speed is 2.1 ghz while c2d only 1.86? Even I ve known about vista performance. Linux is times faster and the new ubuntu is like Leopard its amazing. Laptops s also cheaper with linux.
well dual core means there are two cores in separate dies one for each which produces heat quite a lot as there are two separate dies while core 2 duo also has two separate cores but embedded in a single core which is much more efficient in heat dessipitating and more stable.performance wise core2duo is slightly faster even though its ghz is low but both of dell and sony processors you mentioned have more or less same performance. instead of performance here you should go for the one which has better service at your place.. brand also plays a major role.bigger companies like to offer their products for higher price as to enhance their brand name(offcourse this depends on many things but sony is the only competitor for apple in pricing of products according to my opinion)
Core2 duo 1.86ghz(dell) is better than dual core and it would be better if you are installing the OPS windows XP rather than vista.
Thanks for the help guys, it helped. I think dell is better among the 2. I ll be thinking over it for some time.
