Can copywritten material be included in the webpage if credit is given to the writer? I was thinking about making my webpage all about medical information and I'm not an expert on the subject but I have tons of books and I love sharing that kind of information with people. I just got signed up on adsense and I have read so many rules in the last two days my eyes are going to fall out... One question I have is can I put the link to my webpage on boards and things for people to click on as long as I am directing them to the content of the page? I thought it would work good to have my webpage all about medical information and then post the link to it on healthboards. Only healthboards that allow that kind of advertising. I know of one and I am sure there are more. Don't make fun of me if I am way off base here I am totally new to all of this. Thankyou for any help you can give me.
If your want to take content from other webpages you need to read their terms on site, disclairmer and copyright notice. While some of them allow to reproduce whole or part of their content, some others not and you will be infriging someone else's copyright
I was thinking of taking the information from medical books that I have at home not from anything online.
You can of course reference copywrited material so long as it is cited properly. Where you thinking of generating custom articles based on the marterials you learned from the book? Or just copying articles from the book? They are two completely different beasts.. The idea about the forums is totally legit, and usually good advice. If you can participate in a conversation about some medical topics and they forum allows sigs, then go for it.
Copying information word perfect from textbooks could get you in trouble, unless you are careful to a) acknowlwdge your sources b) keep copied material to no more than 5 percent of the original and c) obtain permission to reproduce the material from the copyright owner. It's best to paraphrase the text in your own words, add quotation marks to copied sections, and reference these quotes. As long as you create lots of original text, you will have no trouble with the copyright laws. Just remember that it is very easy using a program such as Copyscape to find duplicate text on the internet, so don't try copying slabs of other websies and passing it off as original. Once your site is up, then links back to it from health forums is perfectly acceptible. Good luck with your project.
Books are copyrighted material if People Find information that contains in the books who will purchase the book. You should contact the author of the book and the publisher before put any material online.
That's the thing I can't change the wording it's medical information. What if I interpret it wrong it could cause harm to someone who is reading the information. So do authors actually give permission? I'll try it we'll see what happens.
It will give you more work to paraphrase the articles but it will be better in the long term for your site. And yes you can ask specific authors (if you can contact them) about permission to copy some articles of theirs and to make correct links to the source (with Amazon referrals links for example) I don't know if they'd say yes since they might have contracts with their publishing editor, but if one of them say yes, then you'll have good content for your site and you can highlight this book in your site, saying how good and interesting it is.
