Just wondering if anyone knew about copywriting "terms and conditions" or a "privacy policy" on a website? Are there such things as a copyright law to these since it does not really relate to website content?
Are you referring to writing your own copy or taking the copyright disclaimer from another website and using it on your own site? The latter is still copyright infringement.
I was referring taking the disclaimer from another website. How could I make it to where it is not copyright infringement? Can I just take and paraphrase or..what do I need to do? I found a site that matches almost exactly what I need to say.
How about just writing your own? There's no need to copy or paraphrase. Just do a search for templates or samples of them, and you'll probably find plenty where the authors actually give you permission to use them and alter them for your needs. Otherwise, don't touch them from another site. Some site owners spend a good bit on having actual legal professionals craft their terms for them. They certainly won't appreciate you stealing them.
Actually just found a good Terms of Service generator if anyone is interested: "http://www.webmasters-cavern.com/tools/tosgen/" *This site is not endorsed by me, but only used for informational purposes*
