Hi, I need to know what is the right term for written content? is a copy, articles, post or just content? i'm a bit confused on which i will use. How does your client used it when he want service. Thanks!
Copywriting pertains to sales copy (i.e. sales letters or salesmanship-in-print) in it's purest form, not article writing which comes under the label of content creation. Best, Mark Andrews...
You're more than welcome, absolutely not a problem. If you run into any problems understanding anything, please feel welcome to give me a shout anytime. Best, Mark Andrews...
Mark, you and I usually agree 100% - possibly here too?, maybe not here? However, if I believe in spelling checkers or a dictionary, many do not even contain the words SEO, ebook, and even words like copywriting (updated). Copywriting be professional writing of any of the following (and more) 1. writing long page sales copy 2. perfecting a web page for the exact keyword density, length, and appeal 3. turning a printed brochure into a mini ebook 4. proper design of a OTO, one time offer sheet 5. press releases for professionalism 6. the making of a portfolio 7. preparing a corporate PowerPoint or other, worded presentation 8. writing blogs for a magazine publisher 9. proper wording an construction of an opt-in page to capture Email responses 10. Advanced, precise wording in an article for top Google attention, and rebound effects No it does not mean merely putting words into internet media or print media. Any of these 10 are enough to earn a hefty income. Often a client starts with one request, which leads to another. I doubt too many are super talented in more than half. (I am not) Now if the word copywriter terminology was used. It would have to include words like: 1. Word usage, and location 2. Headline and/or sub header 3. Key benefit points 4. Ability of the reader to take action 5. A strategy to bring profitable attention 6. The art of key words in just the right location, etc., etc. 7. expertise 8. credibility with clients 9. level of charges for work 10. creativity, uniqueness, communication to clients -------------------------now that is very open to opinion and an only partially correct answer-----------------------------
Copywriting in the industry, never mind the dictionary definition pertains only to salesmanship-in-print, in other words selling via the printed word. It does not involve content writing which is altogether a different beast. Not to split hairs or anything lol. Best, Mark Andrews...
Mark: Whose industry? The internet industry? An advanced article, written properly has all those characteristics. According to my 1st place in the Dale Carnegie Sales Course, way back (and that could have changed), And which I then became a co-instructor, here is my own opinion. There are 5 main points in sales communication, written or oral: 1. Attention (headline) 2. Interest (sub-headline or initial sentence) 3. Conviction (belief that a problem or emotional need exists) 4. Desire (wanting to solve need) 5. Close (conviction to a plan of action) The content in my article writing does exactly that, a sales copy page does exactly that (both contain content, just like a sales speech or presentation contains meaningful content to meet the end requirement. Plain content is a different beast. ----------------------------------------------------------------again this is a discussion, so there is no absolute right, but definitely somethings under neither definition would apply---------------------------------------------
Actually it is determined by the client, buyer, customer, referrer. My American client would want the word "organization", if that is where they and the bulk of clients are. My UK client would want the word "organisation", it they and primary customer base are part of the former British empire. The website of my wife is PR3, and Alex 400,000 (lower = better on Alexa), Yours is PR1 and Alexa 1,600,000. She makes money, you make money. I do not judge on that basis, but it does attract sufficient clients. I do not need pats on the shoulder of fellow snooty "copywriting industry expert", my inner satisfaction and results are more than sufficient payment. In many ways it is in the eyes of the beholder. Copywriting Industry Quote "Copywriting is a way of writing content, promoting a particular person..." If I wanted to, in 6 days time I could your use term, "internet marketing copywriting", no link tricks, and get a Google ranking in top #6 out of 3,000,000 results. That would not make me a copywriting industry professional in some people's eyes, but I would receive many inquires by people seeking any of the ten categories listed above. Should I be hung as guilty by association? My pay comes from clients who consider my work to be copywriting in about 5 areas (not long page sales copy). In my way, I let clients decide. You let the copywriting industry. There is no right or wrong clear cut answer. -----------------------------------
The clear cut answer whether you appreciate it or not, which now seems to be a mute point since you only seem to want to argue over pedantics, is that copywriting pertains as aforementioned to salesmanship-in-print. You can argue, split hairs on the point until the cows come home but it will not alter the facts. If you wish to split hairs, take up your argument with near all the top copywriting experts online - I warn you now, you'll have a devil of a job on your hands, getting your point home. As for Alexa ranking, who gives much of a stuff about Alexa? It's neither here nor there. SEO btw is another key area specialization amongst many others. As for my site - I have many copywriting websites, the one you see in my signature is just one of them. Best, Mark Andrews...
That is the whole point I made. Thanks for confirming. I could care less what other copywriters think. I care what clients think, want, and are willing to pay for. My money has been made. Most of internet time is spent help others rise up and be proud of themselves. They would be very welcome over to my house. I am no better that anyone I help. My goal is to make them better than me. In fact just starting with another one in Bhara, India --Free. He wants to help others also. So who cares about a "title" that is only valuable in a cliche? -------------------------------------Best, Don------------------------------------
@Perry Rose please don't be so rude. Webandinkmedia was just trying to get our feedback in this forum - probably because they value the amount of expert opinion here.
My original reply was to the OP's question, let's just simply leave it at that. Thanks. Mark Andrews...
@dyadvisor and @MarkAndrews IMCopywriting you both have great answers. Thanks for your opinion! @cosmolito Thanks,
