You do not make it clear with the usage of the word "who". If you mean me, that means another cheap shot or rule violation. I donate my used monitors to charity organizations. Your other points are worthwhile. Just my own personal opinion that does not require quoted research. To me, my brain and one monitor do the job. For may writers, they do research with the materials Google so easily provides. Each to their own, if that is okay.
I don't see where I used the word "who." *sigh* No offense intended - I was speaking in general terms. It was pointed out that second monitors were expensive. I offered a cost-effective solution for anyone who might want to try upping productivity with a dual monitor system. Even using basic Google searches for general information, having a second monitor can make it easier by letting you write without toggling back and forth between screens - especially if you're looking to include statistics or a particular quote. Another example would be an interview or review that you're referencing in a blog post or article. Having the interview file open beside the word processing file lets you flick your eyes back and forth between the two rather than having to skim and scan the original file to find the correct spot as you toggle back and forth for each element. It really just depends on what you're writing. Absolutely to each his own.
Rebecca, I am sure we are. I am talking about the basic initial steps, your post goes far beyond into the advanced stages. This is definitely not a point of disagreement. The OP seemed like she was very grateful for obtaining a new system. It is good to mention that as she advances, at whatever pace she desires, that there are inexpensive means to upgrading productivity. Then at each additional level, depending upon where you want to become an authority, extra productivity needs to be explored. When I got into the internet, 12 years ago, storage memory was so darn expensive. Back then 10MG cost $800.00 (as in mega, not giga) I bought 5 more systems. I told my wife, that I hired 5 more assistants. Shortly thereafter, net income increased fivefold. Right now I am looking at 2 XP systems that will probably go to charity. I am confident that you can attribute increased net income due to making the wise use of productivity. The extra cost of acquisition of extra linked monitors has paid back in returns many times over. I am no opponent of increased pay by use of productivity, and you have shown neither are you. Plus, I know it frees up more time to take on the other important facets of life.
I agree that a Duel monitor setup could be worth having, although cheaper if you are upgrading your computer to support duel monitors, and you have an old cheap one as well. Don't go out and spend the extra hundreds of dollars for something fancy if you have an old monitor kicking around.
