Copywriter or content writers for email marketing

    Hello everyone,
I want to know if copywriters or content writers can write content for email marketing. What are the differences between the 2, and which one is the best to choose for marketing (content writer or copywriter). What we want to do is start email marketing, but need an excellent writer that gets users to take action and sign up to the site and asks their friends to do the same.
In your opinion which one is the best one?
Would you recommend any site that provides these services?

    Thanks in advance.

    Content writers generally write essays.

    Copywriters sell things.

    You need a copywriter.

The line is very blurred for a lot of "content" writers but you definitely want someone with experience in copywriting.

The key difference is that copywriters are skilled in creating action inducing text whilst content writers right engaging but not sales oriented text.

You can get this kind of work done here on DP under content creation sub-forum though I'd recommend myself for the work obviously.

To put it straight, you need a copywriter. The problem is that not any copywriter will do.

You see there are noticeable differences between e-mail copywriting and its sales letter counterpart.

My favorite difference is the subject line/headline. In a sales letter a headline like "Grab these 6 ways to save you money NOW!" will probably work acceptably well. Put the same words in the subject line of an e-mail and it will bomb. There's a bit of subtlety involved here. My best converting subject line (an upsell offer) was something like "[Company Name]: Important New Licensing Option". Typically, passive subject lines outperform aggressive ones by a significant margin.

Another substantial difference comes from the unique strength of the e-mail environment. With a traditional sales letter, you have to work under the assumption that it's your one shot of making a sale. This is why you must put everything you have into it. With e-mail, you have the luxury of building rapport, setting expectations and then meet them. This changes everything and when you copywrite your e-mail campaign you must keep this in mind.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    George

Great points George but with print marketing the worst that can happen is your materials get dumped into the trash. With email marketing you can get blacklisted as a spammer if someone takes issues with being solicited.

content writers, write unique content which is free from grammatical mistakes, spelling mistakes and good sentences. Copywriters, write content which will provoke/motivate/attract the readers to buy your product or service. For email marketing you definitely need a copywriter but they demand more money for one copy.

So I disagree about email marketing being spam. It's an effective way to reach those that already enjoy your product. Without email I couldn't talk to my writers. ---

Copywriting is for copy which includes print and online topics. I've written a ton of copy for a wide range of companies. Normally it is written to prompt something like a sale or something. Because they have the harder task of selling, their prices reflect their skill.

Content writers tend to focus on SEO results and provide articles that are used over the internet. A content writer might also publish their articles in side an email or even in a printed promotional newsletter.

    Hope this helps!

Can't add much to the previous replies because they're spot on - you need a copywriter because you need someone who's skilled at selling a product or service. If you're still looking, I'm available.

You need a copywriter. Content writers write stuff that only tells about the particular's subject information but they are not skilled in selling things or make the readers to take action to an offer but copywriters are skilled to do this job.
