Is there a difference between a copywriter and content writer?

I mean, if I want sales lead should I hire a copywriter or content writer?

This question may really sound crazy but I heard most people saying that a copywriter would actually do an excellent job to give you a, well, copy that would generate sales. And, a content writer would actually do what?

    Is there a difference, really?

There is a great difference between CopyWriter and Content Writer.
A copywriter will write a Copy that will push your sales. They write in a manner that contains informative, interactive and engaging facts about your service or product. They generally come at a price higher than a content writer. All the matter is highly structured...

A content writer is used to write Articles, Blog posts, Press Releases, ect. These all are written in a tone which is informative and educating. Their content is not meant to push up the sales. Although, some content writers do write in a way that really ups the sales for their buyers.

Yes, there is a difference between the two.

Copywriters specialize in writing copy that sells. It could be a brochure, web copy, or whatnot, but the role of the copywriter remains the same.

Content writers? They're the one you ask to write articles, blog posts, etc. as mentioned in an earlier post.

As for doing an excellent job writing a copy that generates sales, that would depend also on the willingness of the client to test the copy, and the understanding that good copy alone doesn't make the sale.

    Hey,

Yeah, both of these guys are right. There is a huge difference between the two. Beware - A lot of content writers will tell you that they can do copywriting, but they can't. If they could, they would be writing content!!!
Copywriting is an art. It takes a real long time to master and copywriters charge a whole lot more than content writers because of this.
If you want good copy that converts, then you're going to have to pay for that quality.

    I hope this helps. :)

Copywriting is different from content writing. Content refers to content in web pages, copywriting means writing sales letters , squeeze page copy, etc.

Most copywriters can be content writers.

Few content writers are good copywriters.

If you plan on hiring a writer, make sure that both of you understand what it is you want. Too many writers do not know the difference between copywriting and content/essay writing.

BTW, content writers do not write press releases. Press releases are a very specific type of sales copy.
