This really belongs in the Legal Issues forum, but... US law is that stuff is automatically copyright when it is written. But putting a specific copyright notice on is no bad thing. For best protection, you need to register with the Copyright Office. In your country, the exact law may be different, but (especially if it is a former British colony and hence a common law country) it's likely to be similar. (Also, international copyright treaties tend to make copyright law similar in different countries, even if the exact details vary.)
I'm not certain where you are, but in the US, you can and should put a copyright notice on all of your work (though it's not required by law for copyright protection). There is no prerequisite to do so other than that your site is an original work of authorship.
