does this mean that i may have a site where some pages violate copyright but not publish ads, while pages that are not violating copy rights may have ads?

Oh wow! LOL I'm speechless at this one. So, "Is it okay if I violate copyright laws as long as I don't place ads on those pages?"

This would certainly put a lot of "made for AdSense" sites out of business, but then Google's revenue would fall as well.... Catch 22.

Doubt it. With the MFA sites disappearing, advertiser credibility in the program increases more and more of them join. Win/Win.

    The answer is NO!

Google is coming down hard on sites that violate copywrite acts which is better known as DMCA. If you have copywrited materilas on a site and dont publish adsense ads on those pages, that will keep you safe from adsense but will not save you from being penalized by big G. Once google identify a site having content in violation of DMCA (based on complaint from copywrite owner), that site will be removed from indexing and will not be shown on search results. same goes for images that violates DMCA. If do search for some terms, pay attention to the bottom of Google page where you might see that there were more results for your search term but were not shown as they violate DMCA
