I came accross a website that has a lot of funny photos. These photos are not their property, are they copyrighted?? i dont know. some of them are..photos of celebrities, scenery, brand logos, etc. Now these images are edited in photoshop. Lets say a photo of Jessica Simpson and her head is cut out and someone else's face is in it. Or just custom photoshop things done to some of the images.

Am I allowed to copy that image and post it on my website? It was probably edited by the owner of the site but does that mean he owns the right to that image now? It's not the original, but it wasnt his image first of all.

    how does that work?

Legally, you do not have a right to use it. Yes, they are copyrighted.

Practically, there are thousands if not millions of images created by people on the internet and passed along via email or websites and that is the purpose - to spread the images. For those types of images, you can probably use it with no problem. If you get a request to remove it, then simply do so.

Example: Have you ever heard of "mosh girl" or "tourist guy"?

Those are example of pics that people make to show off, and people spread them around. I would not think you would ever have any problem using that type of pic.
