copyright problem of story site?

i am preparing a story site. In my site there are english stories. I took all of them from internet. Mostly of them about my culture. But others are not belong to my culture. I shall write story's writer at the end of the story. My question is: can i take to my site these stories. is it illegal?? what can do for to resque illegality? thanks....

 

It depends where you live, but generally no, it's not legal. Credit doesn't mean you're allowed to use it. You must only use stories with a license that allows them to be republished, or you must ask permission of the copyright holder (which isn't always the author).

 

thanks jhmattern ; i send a mail a writer after send a mail the internet site that publishing stories. But i didnt take any answer. So i searched story sites. İ saw that usually they publishing the story and they add an attention under the story. for example; this story is only knowlodge purpose,and if writer want we will delete this story. I live Türkiye and our laws are same european legality. But first writer has to send a mail and attention me. if i dont delete this story then copyright holder can do anythings.

In fact, i want to publish come from my site members,but fistly can find member i must put else stories..

 

So you're stealing copyright-protected materials knowingly, and only removing it if they ask you to? Even if not directly illegal where you are, it's completely unethical and you'll have a difficult time attracting legitimate members when you show them how little you respect the work of others.

 

i respect writers. and i never steal anything. then i will try copyleft materials. Rich site owner can do everythings. i was not know much about copyright when i started this project.

 

The only way to go after people who steal your website info is to track your content via search engine just google. If you find someone then just email them letters saying they should take down , said content if not then you will have to go to their host and domain registrar and EFF them up.

9/10 times they will reply fast and apologize.
