Copyright and trademark are two totally different things. What is it you want to do?

Th eUK is pretty cheap for trademarks. I believe it's something like £100 for a basic class, and £50 per extra class

In most countries you dont "copyright something", it is automatically copyrighted as soon as it is created. Any form of registration for copyright is to assist in proving your the copyright holder not to actually copyright it.

Trademarks and copyright are not comparable.

There is no such thing as a "cheap" US Trademark.

If you want to go through the Trademark process without hiring an attorney, you can get all the information you need here:

    http://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/basics/index.jsp

You will have to do an existing trademark search, and properly fill out the forms yourself. The least expensive way to file costs $275.

If it was up to me, I would do both.

I agree with the above post, i would do both but it depends on why you want it done in the first place.
