Note to the mods: I hope that this is the appropriate section for my thread. If not, please accept my apologies and move it. Thanks in advance QUICK QUESTION TO YOU COPYRIGHT GURUS: Company "abc" has a website. I go and using the same site structure ( my template resembles theirs, but quite different), upload the site and I am live. My new site is been live for 1.5 years now. I get a call today: your site violates copyright laws, bla bla bla... My site was never meant to copy theirs, my template is similar, but not the same... He has not registered his copyright with the authorities. Should I go ahead and copyright my website? I have the "copyright" sign on the footer (so does he), but not officially registered. Am I violating any copyrights laws? I look forward to your responses, really. Thanks in advance
Hmm i dont really know how come this be in copyright.. Did u made the template? If so you arent violating any laws.. Maybe explain what kind of template u have WP custom made or...
it is PHP, my template structure is similar, text is different, pictures and logos are different thanks in advance
Well there shouldnt be any problems i think... Because you arent copywriting anything dont know about page structure if that is involved.. If everything is different and also different text there shouldnt be any problem since u didnt copywrite anything from them... I dont really know why they called u about it. U should write an email to them or something to explain u arent doing anything in copywriting their site because i am sure they know what they are maybe just messing with u.
