Ladies and gentlemen - I full understand how hard it is to run a forum. I have a Vbulletin forum myself. We both know that members are going to complain about the smallest stuff.

    In this post - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=7835428#post7835428

I said that it was unethical for someone to be profiting off someone elses labor. One reply to my post was "Please take your complaints elsewhere." And then today I get a negative reputation point saying "~ F(edited out)ck urself."

I promote my website with videos on youtube. So far I have caught 2 people using my videos and claiming the video as their own. One person even signed up to have banners put on the stolen videos. Meaning, he was profiting off my work.

Copyright infringement is a very serious issue. A few members of this website seems to think it is ok to steal / borrow someone elses property and use it as they wish. Its bad enough to take someone elses property, but to profit from it as well - that shows a lack of morals and values.

    Just for the record:

    1. I would like to know the official stance of Digital Point on copyright infringement.

2 I would like to know Digital Points stance on members that promote the theft of copyrighted material.

Any disputes between members stay entirely between members. If someone stole your work, deal with them privately.

The copyright infringement policy thread was not about someone here stealing my property - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=850884

The reply to that thread did not clarify the forum rules on copyright infringement.

I would like a clarification on the forum rules. If a member is promoting the theft of copyrighted material (anyones material) - what is the policy of Digital Point on this subject?

Ouch! They even closed your thread, how rude. I agree with you, it isnt right for someone to take others property.

But im sure that this thread will be closed and eventually if you keep saying/posting this, they will banned you. They've done it alot lately.

The policy is that DP does not get involved with any transaction and if you had something stolen, it is up to you to seek justice elsewhere. This is the key reason you have to be very careful with buying or selling on DP.

There are tons of stuff being sold that the seller does not have rights to sell. That has been a complaint here for long before you came to the forum.

You will need to prove that it is a copyright violation.

Just saying that it is a copyright violation isn't enough.

I suggest you contact an IP lawyer.

It seemed you just joined in May 2008 but are already expert in what is happening around her, for your previous post you are commenting on many banning lately. Since you only joined in May 2008, would like to know what is your definition of "lately"

This has been asked and answered repeatedly. Try searching next time.

We do not get involved in disputes between members. If you find they've stolen someone's work and are selling it, you can feel free to forward any hard proof to a mod, but short of that, we stay out of it. There's nothing to stop them from simply discussing the topic. And if you see a post that's expressly against the forum rules, use the report post button to report it.

We do not condone copyright infringment, nor are we experts on legal issues regarding such issues. If you have a copyright issue consult a qualified legal specialist.
