I was just wondering how recipes ca be protected. Im making a recipe site, and i plan to do all the recipes myself. Post my own photos of the food im making but im a little worried about copyright. Im told by a friend that recipes cannot be copyrighted. So how do i protect my content as i really am putting alot of work into this site and i dont really want it being ripped off. Am i right in thinking i can copyright my photos. but I'm also not sure if the explanation of how to cook meals can be copyrighted also.

However, where a recipe or formula is accompanied by substantial literary expression in the form of an explanation or directions, or when there is a combination of recipes, as in a cookbook, there may be a basis for copyright protection." ...
