I was just wondering how recipes ca be protected.
Im making a recipe site, and i plan to do all the recipes myself.
Post my own photos of the food im making but im a little worried about copyright.
Im told by a friend that recipes cannot be copyrighted.
So how do i protect my content as i really am putting alot of work into this site and i dont really want it being ripped off.
Am i right in thinking i can copyright my photos. but I'm also not sure if the explanation of how to cook meals can be copyrighted also.

See what the US department of copyright has to say about recipes.

    http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl122.html

The start of the info given says, "Mere listings of ingredients as in recipes, formulas, compounds or prescriptions are not subject to copyright protection. However, where a recipe or formula is accompanied by substantial literary expression in the form of an explanation or directions, or when there is a combination of recipes, as in a cookbook, there may be a basis for copyright protection." ...
