I'm interested in the theme of protecting of content from duplicating. What to do if other website copies your content and displays it as its own? Did someone from copywriters encountered this problem? What did you do in such case?
Hm....this I don't know either. In fact, this thing also appears in my mind lately. How can we avoid our works right from being taken by other....? and how to check if the articles is a plagiarism......? Does somebody can give us enlightment about this...?
I am not sure about the technology involved, but you can surely cover up the text page with a `transparent' flash layer. This will force the person interested in copying your page, to copy the same manually. Alternatively, you can scan a printed copy of the text matter and upload it as a graphic image. As far as the matter of content that has already been done, you can complain to the webmaster of the domain. However, I'd suggest that you forget the past and prepare yourself for the future.
Ah, thank you parsibagan. And your advice is good. I wouldn't bother with the past then, excepts the past is trying to pick on me
The pleasure is mine. Remember, you cannot change the past. However, with the time wasted in attempting so, you can do many more new things.
You can try to file DCMA notice. There's a high chance you can get their webhosting company to suspend their website.
There's nothing you can do about it. You can be very careful about plagiarism and constantly keep a check on that through online tools available. There was a siilar case being discussed on DP in Jan 2010 where a whole website design was stolen. The owner of the original website tried contacting the people behind the theft via email and the contact numbers as per their whois data but was futile. He later filed a DMCA complaint. I don't think anything helped because the site is still live with the stolen design even after 11 months. Ref:- forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1678027 So you cannot do much about plagiarism.
Disable the right click menu on your site, so that people visit you site can't use the copy menu when they right click on your content. I have seen some news websites use this method to protect their content from copying.
How I Fight Back Against Content Theft Autoblogs are flooding the internet with duplicate content. Many wannabe entrepreneurs use software that steals content. I use the word steal because the vast majority of these wannabes take your article from article directories and then display your article minus the live author bio links. Whenever I find myself looking at one of my articles on a website with broken bio links or no links at all within the article, i simply click on the words Ads by Google in the bottom right hand corner of a google ad. * Then I fill out the DMCA complaint form to notify google adsense. Now, I have tried to contact several webmaster but they simply ignore me so now I just automatically click on the Ads by google button and they can worry about their google adsense account in the very near future. My experiences tell me that Google does punish these sites when you help them out by bringing these spam sites to their attention. I have seen many autoblogs punished and they just disappear from the search engines. Yes I'm happy to waste 2 minutes of my time submitting the DMCA form. Many of these spam blogs also have other forms of revenue, such as amazon. You simply go to Amazon.com and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the join associates button. That takes you to the amazon affiliate sign in page. In the top right hand corner there is a feedback button for you to pass on your message about copyright infringement. You will receive an email within 24 hours telling you that it has been forwarded to the appropriate department. I can't tell you what action is taken by Amazon.com but the only time I contacted them, I didn't see any amazon products on a particular website the following week. Don't let people just steal your content. If they want to use your content then fine. That is the reason you posted it in an article directory, for people to use your content on their websites and you get links back. However, many people are stealing content and removing your live links. Report them! Update: Today i received the following email from someone who was contacted by google. I have received a notification from Google that you have filed a complaint in reference to the following URL: mystolencontentonhiswebsitedotcom The issue was that the links in article were broken and did not redirect to the following URL: mywebsitedotcom I have reviewed that particular post and have deleted it from the site. For some reason the HTML code was broken and not redirecting to the proper location. I apologize for the broken link and assure you that it was a consequence of a broken link and not the intention of the site owner to be deceptive in any manner or take ownership of your article. This next line was bolded for me: I have notified Google of the deletion of article in question and hope you will also inform them that this issue has been resolved. I am sorry for any inconvenience this matter has created for you and I assure you that I am in full compliance with ArticleBase's TOS. Thank You, Now all you people creating autoblogs, by all means, use articlesbase articles on your site if you're too lazy to write something yourself. However, understand that if you "steal" the wrong content or have no respect for the content you have stolen then I will take action if it is my content. **Footnote** I have found a finance article i posted on a very nice payday loan website. This isn't an auto blog, the person has obviously spent some money setting this up or has spent alot of time getting the site looking good and trust me, it does look very nice and professional. And he "risks" it by posting articles from articlesbase minus my links? Genius! What do you think he will be thinking when he sees an email from google waiting for him one morning.........he can't just ignore it. All that money invested in your "online business", all that time wasted getting your site looking sexy, just to get caught stealing free content. I'll be getting another email and I'll be thinking the same thing.....cry me a river. Hello everyone!!!
@emergency money This is either the best first post I've ever seen on this site or the most depressing case of copypasta. I'm an optimist today, so I'll assume the first. Welcome to DP mate.
It always cracks me up to see posts like this. Guys, we're living in an age when we can "clone" things, make a copy on the fly, and use the Internet to share information in ways past civilizations only dreamed about. Rather than "locking down" your content using various copyright tools use Creative Commons. That allows people to take your work and expand on it, improve it, etc. There are restrictions you can place, such as requiring those who use your content to link back to the creator. With that in mind, to protect your content from "auto blogs" simply add a line of text at the bottom of each post that states: "This article is released under Creative Commons. You are free to share in part or in whole assuming a link back to www.yoursite.org is included." As long as you copy / paste that line into all your actual posts, their auto scripts will copy it as well, giving you free linkbacks (and possibly link juice as auto blogs often have decent PageRank).
I absolutely detest people that are clearly wasting perfectly good oxygen. Your first paragraph came down to this pont,"There are restrictions you can place," - Well helloooooooooo, TOS from the Article Directory take care of this for you, you don't have to do a thing. What point are you trying to make? Job creation for yourself? You tried to show everyone that you are indeed half smart but you've fallen some way short of halfway. Your second paragraph is also covered by the article directory TOS as is your final statement. As i said, wasting perfectly good oxygen.
Well said. Internet vigilantes are a scream. Trying to disable the mouse, flash layers, sheesh. There's only one way to 'protect' your work. Write it in such a way that even if it gets stolen, it still does you some good.
For copywriting the contents must be compelling and unique and a copywriter must have broad knowledge and imagination with high creativity. Then, only you can stop the stealing of copywriting.
how in hell does that stop people stealing your work? Are you saying people only steal crap work? or are you simply trying to get your post count up?
