Copyright - a cautionary tale

I was googling my site yesterday to see how it was ranking, when I came upon an article I had written, but at an article site that I didn't submit to! I followed the links and found my article under someone else's name. I then went on a sleuthing journey and found my article at many sites under another author's name. Now I'm not naive, this probably goes on a lot. However, this guy is using plagiarized articles in his website promotion business. Every article I checked that he was claiming, was written by someone else and he was linking to one of his website clients. I have written to those clients, the article directories, several other Ezine authors who were plagiarized and to the "fake" author himself. He used my article verbatim, so when Google indexes it from those directories and the link is pointing away from my sites, it could really mess up all the SEO work I've done. I am irritated, but hopefully have done enough work to fix it. It's a good idea to search for your articles once in awhile to see if that is happening.
