Copying the whole content of a site illegally is not enough, why not go even further!

    Hi,

James Evans who works with us at AffiliateSeeking.com has just found an illegal activity happening with someone copying most of the content and the structure of category organization of the AffiliateSeeking.com site.

    Our site: http://www.affiliateseeking.com
    Their site: http://www.affiliateseeking.net

As you can see, copying isn't good enough, they also want to pretend they are apart of us by also practically using the same domain name as us and also using the same name for their site.

I've already sent them an email about this copyright infringement.

We are a group where we have taken over 3 years to get this site set up and running the way it is and it has not been easy at all. If anyone has submitted an affiliate program to our site, then you may have realized that we do practically re-write affiliate program details to prevent duplicate content. Each listing takes about 30 minutes to look at, validate it, check if it's a duplicate or not and proof read it plus edit it.

This site had registered their domain in mid June this year and has just taken a few days to scrape our over 3 years worth of content that has actually cost a lot of money and time for us to do.

Further more, it seems that they can't even do their own categories as they have copied the exact order of ours, the worst part of it is, they have even exactly used the same forum names as ours including sub forum names within their forum.

If the domain name owner of affiliateseeking.net is reading this, then please sort your site out quickly because we will file a DMCA against you for copyright infringement. We would like to say that we have not had many people that think they can copy peoples sites and get away with it, but the ones that we have had has been dealt with appropriately.

I am writing this message here as we from AffiliateSeeking.com believe it's a forum member here that has copied the site.

    Hope you understand.

    Regards,
    AffiliateSeeking.com

Best of luck with your case, it's blatant plagiarism.
Make sure to tell their host, they're usually quite good at shutting sites like these down.
Do they use adsense? Let google know as well so they can be kicked out of the publisher program.

I Don't think the layout is TOO much of a blatant copy / A problem, but if he copied All your articles that took time to write, Then thats lame. I Doubt they will change their site, or your legal action will do anything. If they are located outside the U.S, Forget it.

So it is an attempt at passing off and not just copyright breach

They do say that imitation is the highest form of flattery

His site will be compromised in search engine ranking due to mass pilgrimism , the best thing you can do is to send a complaint to the hosting company and wait for them to shut down the site .

Funny you say that. It was only last week we received some emails asking if they could purchase the AffiliateSeeking.com site. We turned them down as we have put to much time and work into the site and don't want to sell the site no matter how much money he/she would have paid.

After that we then had an email from someone else saying that they own an affiliate program and would like to advertising on our site, but need to firstly know how much money our site was making, how much traffic it was getting, etc. We nicely replied saying that we do not give this kind of information out to the general public as it's a business not backed by shareholders. All the money put into the site has been our own investment.

A few days after that, we receive a PM from this forum asking where they can purchase or find the same script that affiliateseeking is using. We kindly replied saying that it can't be found anyway as we have written all of the affiliateseeking scripts, which is the truth and did cost quite a bit of money and time to write them.

Now we find this site with different scripts, but exactly the same name and content. It sounds like this is either a coincidence or all these emails and the site and the PM from here is all done by one person.

Further more, the user that PMed us here, asking for the script as they wanted one aswell has around 12 posts where most of them are just about 3 - 7 words in length and one of his posts is asking about if it's illegal to copy and paste all of the contents of someones forum, which was probably ours and would be another illegal activity. We have paid over $1,000 on posters over the last 2 months alone, and that's the cheapest part of the site so far. We paid for posters so that we could have original and unique content even though we did end up in a loss situation. In other words paying far more than what we were making from the forums.

About you saying that we can't do anything about it, we didn't ask what we should do and we can do something about it as we have done in the past. At the end of the day we don't mind others starting an affiliate programs directory or a site similar to ours, but copying large parts of it and also having it as an affiliate programs site with our name so that they can try to look like us is not what we want.

Seriously, have you contacted their HOST yet? I hope you're not waiting for a response from the actual people who run the site, you're not going to get anything from there. I'm surprised it's not down. Contact the host - they will take it down quick, who wants to be sued for a client's copyright violation?

Contact their domain registrar as well.

I'm still working on getting it removed.

I just found this on the same server: http://www.52moneys.com

It has the same affiliate categories as the AffiliateSeeking.com site and also the exact same metatag title as the homepage. Must be owned by the same person. Probably going to also scrape the affiliateseeking sites content sooner or later.

you spent 3 years on this but didn't buy up the .net? This is an example of a huge hassle that could have been prevented with $50 of domain name purchases

The problem is, there is TLD's coming out all the time. It's starting to become a joke with the amount that is coming out just so that they can make money. Also, someone could have easily purchases affiliate-seeking.net aswell. It's not really the domain that's the main issue, it's the fact that my content has been copied. No matter if the domain was bought or not, this issue should not really happen.

Also, it would cost much more than $50 per year to have all the domains.
