Copying Kongregate's API - copyright violation?

For those unfamiliar with Kongregate, it is a flash gaming website that allows developers to report statistics from their games using an API.

Their API documentation can be found here:

    http://www.kongregate.com/forums/4/topics/151

I'm wondering, if I implement the exact same API and allow developers to upload the same games they upload to Kongregate to my site would I be committing a copyright violation? (Or a trademark violation, since their function names are: _root.kongregateStats.submit

    Thanks.

I doubt you could use precisely the same names and get away with it. They might let you grow a base to a certain point, but they will stop you sooner or later.

You *might* be safe if you don't use the kongregate name, but that's just my personal opinion.
