It won't have any negative effect on your site...they aren't legally allowed to copy your content without your approval, but it happens all the time.

Also, I think a lot of a blog spammers use that sort of request as a way to spam comment boxes on blogs.

Why don't you say no, but offer to to do a link exchange with the person instead? if their website is any good, that is.
If your content is good, then don't let it be copied. Obviously it can still happen without your knowledge though.

Just let them copy and make sure they link it back to your site. In return, you get a backlink from them which will improve your site in SERPs.

Don't let it be copied. It might have an affect on your site, or it might not. It depends. Like everyone else has said though, don't let someone else take your hard work and use it. Especially if they claim it as their own.

    ooooh.....

A girlfriend of mine has one of these comments on her website. I asked her about it, and she said that she received two comments from one person at a site, and another comment from a different person on the same site. She replied in the comments that she DIDN'T want it copied to their website, but I can't even find the website that they're talking about.

    http://dawnlambe.com/2009/05/29/social-media-relationships-are-the-new-currency/#comments is her site.

So is this a legitimate site that this chick is coming from that made a comment on my girlfriend's site, or spamming?

    thanks, ya'll.

    Raven.

let them republish your rss feed, with a link back to your article. there's no need for them to have a copy of the article on their site.

If it's copied with a source link, it'll improve things on your end. Otherwise, don't let him do it.

Are you sure about that. Just today I found a case of copied content outranking the original content in Google results.

If I were you I would allow them to copy your website content "if and only if" they place a brief author bio of you at the bottom of the article... Also, they should place a link to your website...

You get a bigger benefit from the "link juice"...

I'm pretty sure that's a spam comment--does the link attached to it even look relevant to your niche?

tell them to take a hike. tell them to write there own article I would not even get a backlink from them. Just by asking if they can do it will you do there homework for them i would think not. A true webmaster would not even approach you they do there own homework.
