You're wrong dr_anatomy, copyright is not forever, so all books written long time ago (check for yourself the copyright law) have no mroe copyright, they're in the public domain, check the gutenberg project.
Taking copyrighted material (something written in 2010 is certainly still under copyright) and publishing pages from it is copyright infringement - plain and simple. Taking copyrighted material and rewording it would be classified as a derivative work which would also be considered copyright infringement. There's a reason that it would be expensive to get permission from the original author - you want to profit from their work. Go do some real research using several sources and write something original.
There is a concept of 'Fair Use'. I think as long as you give the original author acknowledgement and don't use too much of it, or try to pass the work off as your own, you'll be ok. However, once you introduce Google Adsense into the equation, you change the emphasis, as you're then attempting to profit from someone else's work, which is wrong.
If the author kicked the bucket before 1936 you can publish all of his books online or in print and keep 100% of proceeds. I wonder who is cashing in on Hitler's books .
Dont even try for the latest version of books because all new books contain search engine readable and indexed few parts of content so beaware of it
Just spin the content to make it unique. Takes no time at all. Or better yet, just pay someone in the BST section to write you some original articles. Problem solved.
Content from a book is under copyright the same as anything else such as content on a website. If the author finds you have copied their content they can file a complaint with Google which will get your account closed down and to be honest quite rightly too. If you can not produce your own unique copy then get someone who can.
