I am having an issue where, when copying & pasting text from a textarea into Notepad, line breaks are not preserved. This does not happen when I copy other text from the website - only text in the textarea. It does work the other way around though - if I write text in Notepad and then copy it to the textarea, line breaks are preserved. I am using IE9 on Windows Vista. I was just wondering why this would happen, and if there is any way I could fix this so that the line breaks will be preserved? Unfortunately upgrading the browser is not an option - so if there was some code I could add to the website to solve this that would be great.
IE as usual does all sorts of crazy nonsense with form elements. There's a reason developers only use IE9 for testing if a site renders, and little else. Unless that copy/paste facility is going to be part of a sites functionality, I'd not be worried about it and I'd tell you to use a browser that does not inhale upon the proverbial equine of short stature. ... and if updating to a modern browser is "not an option" kick whatever ignorant halfwit demands on using the steaming pile of manure known as IE right square in the junk! It's not like you can't run Firefox, Chrome or Vivaldi on Vista. -- edit -- not that I wouldn't also suggest kicking the train wreck that is Vista to the curb as well.
