copy images at iimageshack

    hye guys..just to confirm this ...is it legit to copy images or wallpaper at imageshack and put it into our website .thanks

    yes you can copy images from Imageshack as its user generated content not copyrighted.

    Another idiot chimes in. NO it is NOT ok to use images you do not own unless you have express permission - images have an automatic copyright upon creation.

    Stop posting answers in the legal section - you don't know what you are posting. The above means that ImageShack does not hold the copyright to images uploaded. If they don't hold the copyright, they can't give permission to use them. The copyright doesn't automatically belong to who uploaded them, and nothing says that you can use images found on ImageShack - you can't, at least not without express permission from the copyright owner.

    I feel your pain!

    If you use the images you are taking on the legal consequences for using them - that what "ImageShack directs full legal responsibility of files to their respective users" means. It also means that if they have your details they will pass them on to avoid potential law suits.

    "ImageShack is not responsible for the content any uploaded files" which is a denial of their actual responsibility but it's a good indicator that if the copyright owner comes after them they will pass on the details on the person who uploaded that file in the first instance.
