copy another webpage's keywords/meta tags? allowed or is it illegal?

Google will count this in duplicate content so you got banned.there,s no legal issue in it.Just you got penalized by google..

 

This topic is new thing to me. Anyway, I think it's not a good idea to copy keywords or meta tags from other websites. You need to make respective keywords for your own site.

 

I dont think it matters if the original content is there to support keywords and Title.

 

But title need to be unique .

Yes. You can copy your competitor's keywords and key phrase. A lot of webmasters and bloggers do that. Just do not copy the content. lol
Just be sure that if you copy others keywords, you can do a much better job and could overtake your competitor's rank. That is how SEO works.

You can use others keywords but make sure that you use it more competitively than your competitor does.
