    Got one more for you.
Learned something interesting today, well I found it interesting.
Does anyone know where the word Cops for police officers comes from?

When the LAPD started a long time ago, their batches where made of copper so the where called coppers after a while which ended up in the word Cops.
In Germany where I come from cops are called “Bulle” which means bull as of the animal – no idea where this one came from. :)

There is also the opinion it seems that back in the day a constable on patrol was refered to as a cop.

God bless the Internet for useless information! ;)

Don’t believe everything you read on Google or Yahoo. :)
I got the copper story from the history channel on TV. It was a one hour report on the history of the LAPD.

I like all the stories mentioned so far.

I was always wondering where they got it from.

ah yes.. bobby is one. There are so many im sure ive missed many out.

This is not my own appraisal of police officers, they are only doing their jobs.

like SS soldiers who bashed babies brains in, I hold nothing against them either.
If your getting paid to do something that makes everything okay in my book.

I don't find your analogy funny. I am asking you, directly: do you hate police, by definition? If so, why?

I don't want to dance, complience. As best as I can tell, you are comparing police officers generally to pigs, filth, scum and SS officers. Is this how you feel? If so, why?

Funny thing - I work with police officers in tactical training. Some are assholes, some are guys I can share a pint with - like most of us - but the officers I have come across, generally, want to do the right thing. In my experience, most who hate them as you do tend to be the first to call them when a gun is at their back, their family is endangered, their car is stolen, etc. I find that odd.

What have they done, if I may ask, to draw your hate?

I know you don't and that's the problem.. in a free society people would be educated to a basic level at least, keeping people stupid is the primary method of control in a democracy.

Strangely hasn't worked with me, but i'm sure they're be along to clean up their little mistake soon enough.
