Fresh content is the best option. Otherwise, may be Google slap your ranking.

Glad to know that it is still your content. However just to play safe, just make fresh new content for your new site. It is cheap to pay for a writer nowadays. Dont have your new start be a horrible one.

You won't get sandboxed. Stop giving foolish advices people!!!
You won't get penalized but it's unethical and it doesn't respect Google's policy. Also you could get reported but this is unlikely to happen. If your article and blog manage to get more powerful backlinks than the originator of the article, you will outrank him. I've seen this too many times to count.

I don't think you can use canonical tag. This tag is used only on the pages of the same site and resolves the duplicate content problem elegantly.

If you want to mention the original source by using html tags you could use syndication-source and original-source. Here is the link for more information http://www.google.com/support/news_pub/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=191283.

Better not copy those articles in your new site because google may sandbox your site for having copied articles , better post new content there.

Search engines do not like dupe content mate so i would spin them at least, personally i would just rewrite it if its a small article/post.

If You repost the old articles in same Blog that will definitely affect your old postings. Because You have same content and same Title as well.. and If You want to merge your contents in one Blog You can do it Easily by mentioning the other blog URL..

Okay firstly, google does not like duplicate content. It is better if you start posting new articles at a regular basis. If there is a sudden surge of articles, it will be more than likely you might get sandboxed. So there is 2 cons to this. A good solution to this is, why don't you add links from articles in your old blog to your new one. This would benefit it more. Traffic would be sent there and whatever link juice your old one has, it will pass it to your new one. Hope this helps :) if you like my advice, feel free to PM me more. Search Engines only likes unique and fresh content. Copying remain a spam in the eyes of search engine and your site might be banned. But I think you can take ideas from others article and make your own. Don't try to copy. It'll never give you a good rank in the search engine.

You will not get punished by google or any search engine.
But these articles will probably not bring you any value to your site: search engines will detect that content is copied from somewhere (and they know where it was copied from). But there are no restrictions on that: the best example are news sites. They copy news articles from Associated Press thousands times and still they rank well (and even better than AP)

What we would do in your place?
We would just place a small memo (NOT LINK) that "this content was provided by aaa.com".

    ADVANTAGES? This way you:

    a) show Google that you respect the author and do not just copy content for the sake of better rankings. But because it's interesting for your visitors.

    b) do not link juice to the site where article was copied from.

    c) get fresh post to your blog (site) - this shows google and other search engines that site is being constantly taken care of and you update it from time to time. This will make google bot to visit your site more often - a good sign for future popularity.

    d) get content FREE!

We agree with some above posts that if you get backlinks to these articles you may probably rank better than original site. And if you have a copyright message you will not get any punishment.

Please let us know any feedback if you try this and get any results.

if your blog is so quality, you can copy posts from other blogs. but if your blog is weak, you work for nothing :)

Your copied articles might not even rank, or they might rank, but not on high pages of search engines, ;)

It depends on how Google manually grades your brand. For the last 2 years, but more intensively in the last year, Google has given brand names an artificial higher ranking.

A lot of high ranking news sites just copy and paste (automatically) the AP news feed. Yet none of them get a duplicated content penalty.

Read Google new update it’s clearly stated duplicate content are not allowed and be prepare for Google penalty those are using duplicate content. It's always seo friendly to use Original content
