Copied content vs new content

    Hello,

If I repost 200 or so old articles that have been copied in my blog, then begin to update with new articles, would that have a detrimental effect on how the search engines will view my blog?

    Regards,
    Steven Johns

Why would you repost old articles? That would seem quite silly.

Oh i think i explained it poorly, my bad. If i COPY 200 articles from another blog onto my NEW blog, and then start posting new articles, would it cause too much damage with search engines?

Can you please stop beating around the bush and answer my question?

Do i really need to go ridiculously into detail just to appease your ethical sense?

I have made about 4 blogs over the last ~5 years covering mostly health and technology topics. I want to now combine them into one main blog, rather than having several. The work I will be copying will be my OWN work.

I'm not going around just jacking posts from other blogs or forums.

Smh so basically you just frustrated me unnecessarily to the point where you made me seem like an ass, just to sign off with some condescending message and leave me back at square one.

Search engines do NOT like copy content. You will probably end up losing all your PR or even get sandboxed.

I'm not going to bow down and kiss your feet when all I was doing was trying to help and you give me attitude. It's got nothing to do with trying to make you look like an ass. Do you know how many newbies are unfamiliar with copyright? Alot!

Search engines love new and fresh content. Blog sites that are updated daily will give your site a good rank in SE if you have done your SEO right.

Steven Johns, I'd play safe and keep your new blog with new content. However, you should make it so you have links to your old blogs so that people can access the information a lot better and the old work isn't being totally wasted.

I think the canonical feature might help in this situation. I dont know much about it, but from where I have figured it out canonical link in meta refers the official page of the content. So you can put a canonical link in meta of your old blog and point to the new blog permalink of the article. Just my 2cents

I found copy articles is not entirely wrong. Because I've seen many examples prove, a lot of websites to get information copied but still keep a high position in the top 10.
" Keyword in domain is king, backlinks is queen" ????????????
