I was thinking about this and trying to understand.... I have about 30,000 pages indexed in google.... Each has 5 COOP links on it. My site is a PR 5 So im giving out 150,000 links from a PR 5 site. Now my weight is 67,500 As of the last BL update - I have 3000 backlinks. Many were there already - Someone please explain how these numbers all work together. - Im giving out 150,000 links from a pr 5 site and my weight is only 67,500? Im not complaining -just looking to understand....
Sure, I appreciate that, but I'd still rather have my ads displayed over 200 sites with a hundred pages, than one site with 20,000 pages... Wouldn't you agree...
no - I have 12,000 Pages according to the API and run 5 ads on a PR 5 site. That should give me a weight of 300,000 (pages x PR x No. of Ads) but im only getting 67,500. Should I drop 4 of the 5 ads I run? Would that not hurt the network?
Although YOUR link isn't going to be displayed on all 20,000 pages. There's so many people in the network that a link to a page would be realistic (?) Why punish big sites when they're going to give the most away.
Well, If I was hitting the caps then I would no doubt be agreeing with you... (I was until pages started dropping out) As it is, I have lots of sites running in the network, across multiple IP ranges, and I personally feel, that in terms of SEO - It's a hell of a lot more beneficial to the network... It's not my decision, but it would certianly be nice to have a poll on it... Don't get me wrong, I think the cap should certianly be raised, but not taken away completly...
It depends on your traffic too, I would suppose. If your megasite just sits there with no visitors, then those number mean nothing as no ones ads are being displayed. Where as if your weight was spread out over many site (i.e., you have more sites, or a cap would encourage more site participation), there would be a much higher likelihood that your add would be displayed. I don't know, there's pros and cons to either side.
