Coop links not being shown by Google link: command

I have a few sites that subsist solely on coop links. Recently, they show a big 0 backlinks in Google, all datacenters.

Can this mean G has finally acted on the Coop, rendering it useless? Yes, of course just because G doesn't display backlinks doesn't mean they don't count, but I find it more than little suspicious that the links that displayed before are now nixed.

I'd like to hope it's not true, maybe someone with a broader range of data/sites can debunk this.

I see lots of backlinks from Coop for my sites. Which site are you talking about, how much weight is pointing at it, and how long have you been in the Coop?

The datacenters can show old results and new ones, I have seen the links show and disappear without the SERPS being affected, don't worry about it as I am sure they will show up again within a day or so.

You can never rely on the link: command. For one of my sites Google shows 2,500 backlinks, and Yahoo shows over 100,000

Truthfully, you shouldn't care too much whether the link: command shows them or not. Since they rotate, there is no long-term value as far as link building goes.

I confirm what Fryman says, Google broke the link: command a long time ago saying that it now shows 'a selection' of backlinks.

Yeah I noticed, just thought it was weird how the coop links showed before, but not now. This is why I asked for some more input from those with a bigger measuring stick. :)

I was at 1200 consolidated weight before and just recently it's down to 43(!). I have the ads on my breadwinner sites, just the riff raff.. but still.. stoopid google.

I have 2K points mostly pointing at my site: www-YouNeverCall-com but I have found no sign of a single link in any search engine or in my logs. i have had the ads running for at least 10 days.

Is there some way to tell that my ads are actually running somewhere?

    thanks,
    sam.

Log into your account and click on "Stats" under each ad. This will give you actual impressions (number of times your ad was shown).

This will become more and more accurate over the coming days as everyone updates their code.

    Wendy,

    Thanks for the comment!

I have talked to a number of people participating in the co-op and not one person (even on all the threads) can tell me that its normal to see no stats of any kind after 3 weeks with a score of 2,400. I Now have a score of 8,800 points - maybe that will make a difference....

It would have been nice if someone "in the know" would have spent 15 seconds looking at my account to be sure that my ads have actually run at some point. I even offered to pay for someone to do so!

    regards,
    Sam Michelson

samm27, no it's not normal to not see any stats.
I've only had my site in the co-op for about a week, but I'm already showing pageviews in the stats.
My site dropped over 150 places in the SERPs and I'm hoping that it's just pure co-incidence that it was at the same time as I put the co-op ads in place. The site's still in the SERPs, so it's not been banned or anything daft like that, so I'm not going to start worrying just yet.

As I have just become aware, you have to click the "Enable" link next to the ad before it is shown, are you sure you've done that?

Although I am showing many bl's from the COOP. I am not sure if Google displays links in any particular order. The patterns I have seen appear to display the most relevant/ important links at the top. Today I am seeing 'Results 1 - 50 of about 1,470 linking to www.xxxxxx.com. (0.66 seconds)'

Out of those links COOP bls rule the first page.

I'm getting pretty frustrated as well, I have two sites that have been in the coop for 3/4 weeks and just checked the stats and no adds have been shown, I am running 5 adds on each site and am getting nothing in return.

Another site I have in the coop running 5 adds shows adds are being run but the number fluctuates each day probably because the weight yo yos from 3800 down to 2300 on a daily basis, I don't understand why this happens as the number of pages and PR never changes. No backlinks are showing up either.
It appears to me that people with small sites are getting a rough deal, we are running five adds on our sites and getting very little in return.
Shawn has done a great job making this available but the people benefiting are the ones that need it least, those with large sites who already have high PR, the rest of us are running there adds on our sites, they keep growing at a fast rate while the rest of us limp along.

I did eventually start seeing stats and the co-op was working for me.

Since the change in the weight formula the effects have almost disappeared.

I understand it uses a logarithmic scale now - I am not an expert in math, but I suspect that this also has an effect of screwing the people with very little weight.
