How do you know it isn't? The links may be devalued slightly since they are always new links. Google values old links higher so the new ones are not valued as much.

i think everyone & google has to realise the coop is used to provide free advertising across a number of boards. Just like google adsense & adwords, but its free. There is no intent for our advertising to result in better search engine rankings. ;)

    (c'mon agree with me everyone!!)

Shawn use to have lots co-op links pointing "digitalpoint.com" when co-op first started (I guess he has lot of weight), now I don't see anymore... Do you still use the co-op yourself Shawn? Just curious

I've seen his ebay affliate site floating around on my site abit. I saw his wester-union one as well a few months ago. He probably has other sites as well he promotes with the co-op.

Just a word of caution...there are some threads here from members who were penalized for the coop. Check out MATT CUTTS thread here.

Of course I use the ad network. I just don't really have anything within digitalpoint.com that needs promotion/advertising.

I like nintendos's tip that use less weight and spread on various ads.

According to matt cutts "quality of links" is matter now.
I think coop lacks this feature because these links are temporary and mostly in footers with small font.

One issue I'm concerned about in regardes to Google and Coop is that I've found coop links on my site linking to sites that are banned in Google. Now I'm wondering whether Google considers this linking to a bad neighborhood.

topics are legit...I don't know why these sites are banned but they must've done something like cloaking to be banned.

added: also most of my wieght has dropped across the board in the coop...I'm just trying to figure out why i.e. linking to bad nieghborhoods...

Linking to banned sites is bad.

Your weight may have dropped due to your indexed pages reducing - lots of sites showing coop ads have had page count reductions.

Then that puts everyone that advertises on the Coop at risk since they allow banned sites in the network. :(

The goals of google and coop are similar in that they both want quality sites in their system and they both don't benefit from poor quality sites.

I am sure that if a site is banned from google and there is a clear reason for it being banned then there is a fair chance he will get banned from the coop as well.

If a site is running dp coop and it gets banned by google their indexed pages will go to zero, which will then knock down their weight on the coop, which will then take the ads to the banned site out of circulation. :)
