One of my sites (www.excessively.net) will be Cool Site of the Day on June 2nd. Is there anything that I need to keep in mind for this? One of my other sites was Cool Site of the Day years ago, but I can barely remember that now. Do you get traffic on that one day only or do you get a residual traffic for some time afterwards also? I have seen others mention their Cool Site of the Day listing here on their day so that if others like their site, they can get a vote on the Cool Site of the Year (which was mentioned in the email I received from them). Is that something that is considered acceptable or even a good idea? Obviously, bandwidth is something I will need to keep an eye on with the increase in game plays. Is there anything else to think about or any other suggestions? Thanks much in advance.
I paid for cool site of the day for two sites of mine (err actually three but they declined one of them... seems they want humor / fun sites... not niche stuff). At any rate, I got about 3k uniques that day each site. One of the site (a forum) doesn't get anything noticeable anymore, but the other site (Humor) still gets a couple hundred referrals per month six months later It's a great traffic builder, you'll be real happy with the results for that site.
And be sure to put your adsense code into a frame, ( google_page_url = document.location; ) coolsiteoftheday uses a frame to display your website. Put up a reminder tomorrow for the votes.
