Yahoo and MSN etc, are in this business for so many years, if they cannot beat Google, then I don't think Cuil will
Well, for me, it is more about trying to see what they do well and what we can take away from it. It's not about 'beating Google' as much. I have only played with it a little, see how it goes... What's interesting is that ex-Googler Anna Patterson is involved. She did a lot of work on 'phrase based indexing and retrieval' which means there could be a probabilistic learning going on (the search engine should improve over time)... more here; Cuil and phrase based IR .... so I am gonna watch it for a while at least...
lol, it's funny how the website owners have to make accounts on forums and post these useless crap here to get some attention. It's ok...a month from now nobody will remember you. Enjoy your spotlight
Disagree It would be very difficult for any search engine to beat Google because of the quality of search results that it provides and it has a great reliability factor with it. The layout of the results is quite strange.
lol you putz... they spent "millions" in advertising their release and where on most major TV news and other BIG resources so i doubt they paid this "newbie" anything to post for them. And as much as i like or dislike google, the search engine Cuil.com has a very long way to go before its amongst the top 10 engines. laterz malcolm
This case is not about beating Google, it rather about surviving longer than few months. They are launched just not good enough search engine to be comparable to serious players.
Cuil has no chance to beat google, not in the sense of even just the searching.. and search is just a fraction fo what google does..
I don't feel it has the potential to beat Google. But I'm really surprised at the amount of buzz this search engine has received. I guess it's mainly because of the amount of web pages it has indexed. You never know, maybe it will be #1 a year or two from now.
I think the results of Cuil weren't really keyed in, pretty poor if you ask me. They would definitely have to improve on that.
