Cookies instead of hoplinks?

Is this possible? I have been looking around and can't seem to find anything. Let me paint a scenario:

A user comes to your landing page and decides they want to buy it. If they know what they are doing, they could purchase it without your hoplink. If you set a cookie on your landing page that contains your affiliate id... it's foolproof. The clickbank system would then check the users cookies and credit your account.

This is a very good idea. Some products are great, but their sales page might suck and not convert well.
Implanting a cookie would be a fantastic solution.
How is this done? I have noticed clickbank affiliate cookies change each time they are retrieved, but the last 32 digits remain the same.
Well if the user uses doesn't accept cookies then one will not generate a commission even with a hoplink.

When a person clicks a hoplink, it plants a cookie in the surfers computer. When the sale is processed, the cookie points to the last referrer and credits the sale.

Usually when people change a hoplink, they are actually changing your userID with their own so they get the product discounted. In this situation, even if you planted the cookie another way, if the surfer changes the userID in the hoplink, the cookie you planted will be overwritten..

The only way planting a cookie would benefit you is if a standard surfer who is not a clickbank affiliate saw your Ad, and direct typed the vendor's site without clicking your link. (this is very rare IMO)

You can "PROBABLY" load the cookie by having a small Iframe on your page that loads your hoplink URL to every surfer. I know some other vendors were doing this to me, and I didn't like it.. He was using my vendor hoplink in every page he loaded in an Iframe to plant a cookie just incase his visitors decided to google the competition and purchase elsewhere. He wasn't even showing my page, but deceitfully loading the cookie to try to swipe sales with no referrers..

I don't know if this type of activity is against Clickbanks TOS though

Then again, if they know what they are doing they wouldn't be buying from an affiliate sales page in the first place ;)

    Good point tho!
