As I have said before, arrogant or not, it all comes down to...

Don't take it in the literal sense; I am not asking how much money you make. It means whatever makes you money. What works for me might not work for you.

I allot a certain amount of time to this forum and in it I try to help others as much as possible. I make money, marketing, I can't waste all my time here fighting people on a forum calling me punk and telling me I have a bad attitude or that it isn't going to make money. Guess what? I wager I make more money than you so get over your forum ego as an authority figure and STOP trolling.

I found this story on a link from a GOOGLE search....

I am new and try to protect myself from cookie stuffing....

    .
    .

I was going to hold the story til tomorrow morning but decided to blog it today.

There's a ton of info here. I'm still researching and will probably continue to add to this story.

Reportedly eBay is suing 3 affiliates for cookie stuffing and fraud they allegedly committed through Commission Junction from 2003 - 2007. One of the defendants is pretty high profile and is someone many of you out there know! Shawn Hogan, the owner of Digital Point Forums.

For the blackhatters out there that say "cookie stuffing isn't illegal and all is fair in love and affiliate marketing" - I say you better take a very close look at this case!

I've been researching the story which was first thought to be clever link bait but now appears to be true. I've found legal documents that support the story and are much too detailed to be created for link bait. Here is the 1st report I found about it this morning.

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - Three men defrauded eBay in a "cookie stuffing" scheme that made it appear the men's companies should be paid commissions, eBay claims in Federal Court. It sued Shawn Hogan and Digital Point Solutions, Todd Dunning and Kessler's Flying Circus, and Brian Dunning and Thunderwood Holdings.

    GOOGLE it ...search...

    I can not place links.

hmm, I wonder if we all could get into some class action suits against some cookie stuffers on CB?

I hate this part of it, and I recently learned about it so I will sum it up to what I learned.

A buyer goes to your site and clicks your link.... then goes to a cookied site yet doesn't click anything,,,, yet the cookied site gets the commission even though s/he didn't even click a button (so your 60 or 90 day cookie for that person now is void). This is nasty but in reality it won't be stopped anytime soon from what I've been reading. As long as there are cookies in sites people will find a way around them...

They are probably hiding (cloaking) their cookies... or soon will when the technology comes available. This is one of those battles that will be hard to fight... hmm, I'm wondering...

Did the ones who are getting sued by ebay use this site to cookie stuff to us? I buy lots of items on ebay and I am a big part of DP so I am wondering if they got commissions for me being here then going over and buying something on ebay... makes me wonder....

Guys, if the person decided to leave your site and goes to other sites, whether your competitors are stuffing cookies or not, it's not under your control. Cookie stuffers will be around no matter what you do.

My point is, instead of posting on forums calling them out and wasting time bitching about them all day, just focus on things that you CAN control. It's a waste of time & energy really.

Try to give out bonuses and build a good relationship with your visitors, give them email support if you need to, that way you can secure your commissions and don't have to worry about stuff like this.

What an interesting philosophy! Did you know that recording yourself raping children can make you money? Why don't you do that, if it is all about the "money"?

I'd like to further add, since some people are getting upset (well just proud cookie stuffer and another guy).

I gave an example of something that just about everyone has the same ethical views on. If I said something like warez, he's seems like the kind of guy that would pirate other people's products, music, software, etc for the sake of "money" or saving "money".

I was illustrating the point that it isn't about making the "money". It's about ethics/morality and making the "money". Hence why most people don't cookie stuff, because it is unethical. It's the same reason I don't dabble in the child porn trade, it is unethical and immoral.

I agree with Supper, he gave an extreme but valid example, and made a good point.

It's not all about making the money, It's also about how you make the money, whether you obey the common rules and ethics, or break them.

I guess everyone must cool down, this is a forum where we discuss about Click Bank in particular. This thread is going nowhere. Closed.
